ADVOCACY!!!!

Currently, there are several things going on with the Kansas Legislature that affects the Deaf community.

* Deaf Child Bill of Rights - In the FINAL DRAFT!!!
* House Bill 2125 - Insurance Coverage for Hearing Aids. This has been postponed til 2008.
* House Bill 2140 - Foreign Language Bill. Passed by the House, now in the Senate for review.

You can always check the links on the left side to get inside of our Government and see what else is going on.

Since there are so many districts in the Kansas Legislature, it would be so long to list it here. So click on the links on the left as well.

If you know of any Bills or anything in particular that affects Deaf and hard of hearing rights, please email to Leonard Hall at legalnetwk@aol.com.

If you have any questions or concerns about if your rights have been violated, you can contact the Disability Rights Center of Kansas.

Most importantly, VOTE! If you have not registered to vote, go to www.rockthevote.com and find out why you should vote and they can help you register.

FACT: If you ever signed a petition for anything, your name will automatically be deleted if you did not vote.

FACT: If you do not vote, then you cannot voice your rights/opinions, especially if it matters to you. For example, if you want ASL to be recognized as foreign language, you cannot speak out about it unless you VOTE.

It's imperative that you VOTE. Make your voice count.
